Laboratory of Animal Proteomics

 

I. Laboratory Introduction:
This Lab. was established in August 2006. The major missions were to apply molecular genetics and proteomics related technical platform in studying and developing reproduction related molecular markers in livestock and poultry. The Lab. also participate in The iEGG and Animal Biotechnology Center.
The principal investigator is Dr. San-Yuan Huang. The Lab. currently has six master student, and two undergraduate students.

II. Research topic
1. Transcriptomic and proteomic study on the termotolerace of Taiwan country chickens

 

2D-DIGE protein profile of the SYFs of layer-type L2 strain Taiwan country chickens. Annotation of differentially expressed proteins in the SYFs of layer-type L2 strain Taiwan country chickens after acute heat stress.

2. Study on the genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in Taiwan country chickens and different breeds of pigs

Manhattan plot of the observed P values for body temperature change in the genome-wide association study between resistant vs. susceptible groups of broiler-type B strain Taiwan country chickens.

 

 

3. Others
Applying proteomics-based platforms to investigate responses to nanomaterial, footpad dermatitis-related proteins, and phosphoproteome in sperms of chickens.
 
III. Important equipment in the Lab.
The Lab. possesses basic equipment required for proteomic analysis (including sample preparation, two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, gel scanning, and image analysis), phase contrast microscope equipped with photography software, and two climate chambers. The high-end equipment for proteomic study were achieved through cooperation with Labs in National Tsing-Hua University and China Medical University.
