Announcement: Application for Direct Admission to the Ph.D. Program for Master’s Students in the 114th Academic Year
This process is handled in accordance with the Department’s Regulations for the Review of Direct Admission to the Ph.D. Program.
Outstanding undergraduate students graduating this year and master’s students who have completed at least one year of study in this Department, with excellent academic performance and research potential, are eligible to apply for direct admission to the Ph.D. program.
For the 114th academic year, the Department will admit one student through the direct Ph.D. admission process.
Applicants must submit the following documents to the Department Chair within the specified deadline:
(1) Application form for direct admission to the Ph.D. program (download from the Registration Section).
(2) Transcript and class ranking certificate for the first year of the master’s program; undergraduate transcripts and class ranking certificates for all years.
(3) Three letters of recommendation (one must be from the advisor or class instructor).
(4) Study plan.
(5) Any other documents beneficial for the review process.
Applicants must participate in an oral examination, which includes a presentation of their study plan.
The final score will be calculated as follows: 50% from the oral examination and 50% from the review of other submitted materials. Applicants with a total score of 70 or above (or an average score above 70) will be admitted based on merit.
The schedule is as follows:
(1) Application deadline: July 11 (Friday).
(2) Oral examination date: To be announced after the application deadline.
